TNG2AST4: Four-directional optical supervisory channel and timing transmission unit
The TNG2AST4 board has only one variant: TNG2AST406.
The TNG2AST4 can be created as G2AST2 on the NMS. The former can substitute for the latter, without any software upgrade. After substitution, the TNG2AST4 functions as the TNG2AST2.
The typical power consumption of the TNG2AST4 board is 8W higher than that of the TNG2AST2 board, and the maximum power consumption of the TNG2AST4 board is 12W higher. To use a TNG2AST4 board to substitute for a TNG2AST2 board, ensure that the subrack power supply has a sufficient margin.
If the nominal power consumption of the TNG2AST4 board exceeds the available power supply capability of the subrack, the TNG2AST4 board will not be powered on, and the logical board cannot be added. As a result, the board substitution fails.
When a TNG2AST4 board substitutes for a TNG2AST2 board using the version replacement function, the RM3/TM3, RM4/TM4, TMI3, TMO3, TMI4, TMO4, HP1, and HP2 ports on the TNG2AST4 board are unavailable by default.
As an OSC board, the G2AST4 board processes four channels of supervisory signals, transmits and extracts system overhead information, processes and then sends the overhead information to the system control board. In addition, the G2AST4 board can process the IEEE 1588v2 protocol for time synchronization and supports line fiber quality monitoring.
