The D40 board has two functional versions: TN11 and TN12. Together these two versions are referred to as the D40 board unless otherwise specified.
As an optical demultiplexer board, the D40 board demultiplexes one multi-wavelength signal into a maximum of 40 ITU-T G.694.1 compliant wavelength signals.
The D40 board demultiplexes wavelengths and supports in-service optical performance monitoring as well as alarms and performance events monitoring.
The D40 board consists of an optical module, detection and temperature control module, control and communication module, and power supply module.
The TN11D40 board is a triple-width board (requiring three slots), while the TN12D40 board is a double-width board (requiring two slots).
