Huawei RTN 950 Board SL91ISM6 ISM6 Overview

SL91ISM6/ISM6 boards are new-generation dual-channel IF boards. Each ISM6 board provides two IF ports.

 

The ISM6 has two functional versions: SL91ISM6 VER.B and SL91ISM6 VER.C. Only the SL91ISM6 VER.C can match the XMC-5D ODU

 

An ISM6 board provides two IF ports. The two IF ports can be used to implement XPIC, 1+1 HSB/FD/SD, or PLA/EPLA/EPLA+ in one microwave direction, or provide microwave links in different directions.

 

ISM6 boards support XPIC/PLA/EPLA/EPLA+ between intra-board ports as well as intra- and inter-board 1+1 protection.

 

An ISM6 board can transmit packets in two microwave directions through its two IF ports.

 

The ISM6 receives and transmits two channels of IF signals, and provides a management channel and –48 V power supply to the ODU.

 

The ISM6 needs to work with the packet switching unit to implement Ethernet service functions and packet service functions.

Service type in Integrated IP microwave

  2. Native STM-1 + Ethernet

NOTE:

Ethernet services can be Native Ethernet services or PWE3-encapsulated packet services.

One STM-1 service is equivalent to 63 E1 services. The total number of E1 and STM-1 services accessed on each board is less than or equal to 126 (the number of E1 services).

Service type in SDH microwave

  2. 2xSTM-1

NOTE:

If one IF port provides 2xSTM-1 microwave, the other IF port can only provide Integrated IP microwave (without E1/STM-1 services).

Running mode

  1. IS6-PLUS mode, in which the board now supports a large capacity. In IS6-PLUS mode, modulation schemes ranging from QPSK to 4096QAM and two extended modulation schemes QPSK Strong and 16QAM Strong are supported. The 112 MHz channel spacing is supported and in this channel spacing, modulation schemes ranging from QPSK to 2048QAM and two extended modulation schemes QPSK Strong and 16QAM Strong are supported.
  2. IS6 mode, default mode of the board. In IS6 mode, modulation schemes ranging from QPSK to 4096QAM and two extended modulation schemes QPSK Strong and 16QAM Strong are supported. The 112 MHz channel spacing is supported and in this channel spacing, modulation schemes ranging from QPSK to 2048QAM and two extended modulation schemes QPSK Strong and 16QAM Strong are supported.
  3. IS3 mode. In IS3 mode, modulation schemes ranging from QPSK to 2048QAM and four extended modulation schemes QPSK Strong, 16QAM Strong, 512QAM Light, and 1024QAM Light are supported. When working in this mode, the ISM6 board can interconnect with the ISV3 board or the RTN 905.
  4. IS2 mode. In IS2 mode, modulation schemes ranging from QPSK to 256QAM are supported. When working in this mode, the ISM6 board can interconnect with the ISU2/ISX2 board.

NOTE:

  1. The extended and normal modulation schemes differ in FEC. Strong modulation schemes provide stronger FEC capabilities, which means higher receiver sensitivity but smaller air interface capacity. Light modulation schemes provide otherwise.

The two IF ports on the ISM6 board must work in the same mode. When one of the two ports on the ISM6 board changes its running mode, the other port changes automatically to the same running mode.

NOTE:

  1. In IS3 mode, 2048QAM is supported only when AM is enabled.
  2. In IS6 mode, 4096QAM is supported only when AM is enabled.
  3. In IS6-PLUS mode, 4096QAM is supported only when AM is enabled.
  4. The highest-order modulation scheme that can be used by an IF port is determined based on factors such as the ODU frequency band, XPIC, and channel spacing. For details, see Technical Specifications.

112 MHz channel spacing

NOTE:

If the 112 MHz channel spacing is configured for one of the two ports on the ISM6 board, the 112 MHz channel spacing is automatically configured for the other port. Similarly, when the channel spacing of a port changes from 112 MHz to another value, the channel spacing of the other port automatically changes to the new value accordingly.
