Huawei RTN 900 Board SL91EG4P Overview

The EG4/EG4P is a 4xGE interface board. Different types of interfaces can be flexibly combined based on service requirements. Among ports on the EG4/EG4P, two ports are always RJ45 electrical ports and the other two ports can be SFP ports or RJ45 electrical ports. Among ports on the EG4P, two ports are always RJ45 electrical ports to supply power over Ethernet.

The functional version of the EG4/EG4P is SL91.

The EG4/EG4P receives and transmits GE services or carry MPLS tunnels.

The EG4/EG4P receives/transmits, processes, and converges four channels of GE service signals. The EG4/EG4P can also receive/transmit two channels of FE optical signals using FE SFP optical modules installed at the SFP ports.

There are indicators and GE service ports on the front panel of the EG4/EG4P. Additionally, the EG4P has a power caution label.

The EG4/EG4P can be inserted in Slots 1 to 14, which have consistent logical slot numbers on the NMS.

The FE/GE SFP ports on the EG4/EG4P support multiple types of SFP modules.

Functions and Features

Function and Feature

Description

Basic functions

Receives/Transmits GE service signals, and works with the packet switching unit to process the Ethernet service signals.

Port specifications

GE port

Provides four GE ports.

  • Provides two unpluggable GE electrical ports (through which the EG4P supports power over Ethernet)*.
  • Provides two unpluggable GE electrical ports or two SFP optical ports.

Supports the following types of SFP modules:

    • Dual-fiber bidirectional FE/GE optical module
    • Single-fiber bidirectional FE/GE module

Backplane bus bandwidth

  • 2.5 Gbit/s for slots 1 to 2 and 1 Gbit/s for slots 3 to 14 when working with the CSHL
  • 2.5 Gbit/s for slots 1 to 14 when working with the CSHLU

Forwarding mode

Centralized mode

NOTE:

When a board works in centralized mode, all Ethernet services carried on the board must be forwarded by the packet switching unit of the cooperating system control board.

Port attributes

Working mode

  • GE electrical ports support 10M/100M/1000M full-duplex and auto-negotiation.
  • GE optical ports support 1000M full-duplex and auto-negotiation.
  • FE optical ports support 100M full-duplex.

TAG attribute

  • Supports three TAG attributes: Tag Aware, Access, and Hybrid.
  • Supports setting and query of the TAG attribute of an Ethernet port.

Jumbo frame

Supports a maximum frame length of 9600 bytes.
