Huawei OptiX RTN 980L IDU Overview

The OptiX RTN 980L is a product from the OptiX RTN radio transmission system series.

The OptiX RTN 980L is a long-haul IP microwave transmission system newly developed by Huawei. It provides a large capacity and supports long-haul microwave transmission. The OptiX RTN 980L mainly applies to long-haul trunk networks and metropolitan backbone networks.

The OptiX RTN 980L long-haul system is composed of the powerful TDM/Hybrid/Packet integrated IDU 980L, high-performance high-power radio frequency unit (RFU), and scalable branching unit (BU).

The OptiX RTN 980L long-haul (LH) microwave solution falls into split LH solution and integrated LH solution. The two solutions share RFUs and IDUs. This document focuses on the split LH solution.

The OptiX RTN 980L can transmit Ethernet services and SDH/PDH services separately or in hybrid mode. N+0 (N ≤ 16) and N+1 (N ≤ 11) configurations are supported for microwave links. Two cascaded NEs support up to 24+0 configuration through an antenna. The OptiX RTN 980L applies to the following scenarios:

Large-capacity and long-haul trunk transmission
Large-capacity microwave ring networks
Aggregation and backhaul on mobile bearer networks

The OptiX RTN 980L supports chain or ring networking and can aggregate services from other short-haul RTN microwave equipment over air interfaces.
